The Woody Wagon is a classic in American styling and pop-culture. From the mid-1920's through the 40's, they were the height of prestige and automotive elegance. When surfing exploded into southern California during the 1950's, the surfers adopted the readily available used Woody's for their affordable spaciousness. Shove the surfboards through the back window and there was still enough room for all your friends and cooler. Soon, they became synonymous with beach culture as movies and music featured them regularly through the 60's. One of the later models of the woody era, the 1948 Ford DeLuxe, came stock with a powerful V8 making it popular for hot rodding.
